USC performance wins UCLA two more recruits

Vertical: 26.2

Squat: 605

Potential: Poor

Andy Coleman is big and he loves tacos.  He is obsessed with tacos, and was named the Diamond Bar taco eating champ, and also holds competitive taco eating titles in Chino and Pomona.  Although there are better taco stands near USC, Andy chose UCLA because it is near the Playboy mansion, and he hopes to hold a taco eating contest there one day.

Charlie Carlson, Norwalk, CA

#6 T, 6′3″ 285 lbs

40: 5.07

Awareness: B

Vertical: 26.2

Bench: 460

Squat: 640

Potential: Poor

Discipline: Poor

Charlie is part Shoshone Indian and is really into Latino culture.  He and Andy Coleman became friends in the local taco eating competions and decided to commit to the UCLA together.  Note the similarity in size between Charlie and Andy Coleman; they have already garnered the nickname: “Taco Twins.”  Charlie and Andy rountine engage in taco eating “friendlies” in order to gain a competitive edge over their rivals.

Bruins steal Pac-10 from USC in deceivingly close game

January 19, 2007

LOS ANGELES, CA–First off, before I reveal the final score, let me just say that this was one of the best and toughest games I have ever played. For three quarters, anyway. Halftime score: 7-6. Final score: 31-6.  The game started off with Chris Markey’s 71 yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage.  Markey breaks off a 71 yard runIt was a weak-side counter that no one saw coming.  That would be the Bruins’ only score in the first half.

The USC secondary was by far the best I’ve faced all season.  It seemed like they had 15 players on the field and most were DBs.  Johnson was completely shut down, going 2-14 for 42 yards with an INT, although he did manage to score a rushing TD late in the game.

The defense was solid during the first half, holding the Trojans to two field goals.  Turnovers and special teams were the words of the day.  The Trojans had 4 turnovers (2INTs, 2 Fumbles) and the Bruins had 3 (1INT, 2 Fumbles).  Kevin Brown hurts the QB

Mario Sanford hit a 50 yard field goal early in the 3rd quarter to put the Bruins up 10-6.  The Bruins picked off the Trojan’s QB late in the 3rd and the floodgates opened.

Kwame Huff forced a fumble, and Marty Hampton forced another, and recovered both.Huff forces a fumble

The defense stat sheet reads like a all-star line-up.

Kevin Brown: 6 tackles (3TFL), 2 sacks

Kwame Huff: 5 tackles (1TFL), 1 forced fumble

Marty Hampton: 3 tackles, 1 forced fumble, and 2 fumble recoveries.  He was voted Pac-10 defensive player of the week.  Sanford nails a 50-yarder

The Bruins took home the Victory Bell and captured the Pac-10 title.  UCLA is now ranked 15 in the BCS, 14 in the Media, and 18 in Coaches Polls (see previous post about Coaches bias).

The win earned the Bruins a spot in the Rose Bowl against bitter Big-1o champ Minnesota, who went 12-0 and is #2 in the Media, but #3 in the BCS.
